Adidas is a company that has been around since just after WWI. Started by the Dassler Brothers in Herzogenaurach, Bavaria, and named after one of the brothers - Adolf (or Adi) Dassler (Adi+Das) they began the company by making running shoes in their mother's laundry room. When the 1936 Olympics came to Berlin, the brothers, armed with a trunk full of running shoes, drove to the Olympic Village and coerced a then little known runner named Jesse Owens to wear them. After Owens won 4 gold medals whilst wearing the Dassler shoes, Adidas became a new household word.
Adidas has since gone through it's tribulations but has stuck with us, thank heavens, and consistently offered some wonderful sporting gear which, as of late, has turned into some very cute designer sporty wear. The classic Adidas 3-stripe logo is recognized all over the world and is usually adorning some faboo fashion, as is seen by today's terrific assemblage.
